The history of C.L. Seifert is a story of love, passion, family, and hard work. When Carl Ludvig (1834-1898), a newly qualified 22-year-old tailor, arrived in Copenhagen in 1856 from Mühlau in Sachsen, his plan was initially to go to America. However, after meeting his future wife Mina Thee (1834-1913), they decided to start a family and a business together in Copenhagen. Carl Ludvig first began working as an apprentice tailor for seven years around the Copenhagen area, but in 1865, he and Mina launched their own business in a basement at Store Regnegade, in the heart of Copenhagen. After many years of hard work day and night, they eventually saved enough money to buy a sewing machine, a rarity among tailors at the time. Carl and Mina discovered that buttons and exclusive fabrics like silk could be bought at lower prices in Germany, so Mina traveled to Germany to import these products. They began to supply and distribute these materials to other tailors in Denmark. Their business grew, and they finally moved out of the basement to open their own store and workshop at Store Regnegade 22. Later, they relocated the business to Store Regnegade 10-16.
