Pads - a rigid wooden or metal structure for fixing the limbs

Pads - a rigid wooden or metal structure for fixing the limbs and sometimes the neck. They were used to immobilize criminals during punishments, and as an independent shaming punishment - when a person was exposed in the stocks in public. In BDSM the purpose of pads - bondage, they can be used to restrict the movements of the bottom during SM-action, or sexual influences. It is a simple and reliable device that does not require skill of use (unlike ropes), and provides more rigid fixation than shackles. The disadvantage of the shackles is the fixed size of the holes - however, this disadvantage is easily eliminated today by using elastic porous rubber inserts. They also prevent rubbing when the holes are large or pinching when they are small. Wooden pads. There are different versions of these pads, which have their own advantages and disadvantages. Separate pads for the arms only (they usually have a hole for the neck), or for the legs only, are quite compact. Combination pads for simultaneous arm and leg restraints are large-sized stationary BDSM furniture, quite fetishy. Sometimes such pads stand of three plates and have a hole also for the neck: in this case, the pose of the bottom will be uncomfortable. Pads called "woman's violin" differ from the traditional ones in which the hands are fixed not on the sides of the head, but in front of it. Externally, this device really resembles a violin, and, as a rule, quite light (previously it was made simply from rods). Metal pads. Modern pads are often made of metal. They can be not only one-piece - from steel strips on a hinge, imitating the shape of traditional wooden ones, but also collapsible. In this case, a set of pads consists of spacers with rings at the ends and clamps worn on the limbs and neck, usually consisting of two parts, which are closed after connection by a carabiner, screw, latch or lock. A set of several such spacers and five clamps allows the lower person to be fixed in various positions, especially if there are additional rings or holes in the spacers. The spacers do not have to be of different lengths - they can be composite. In this case, the length can be adjusted with a threaded rod secured with thumbscrews or a so-called turnbuckle. There are also completely metal hard pads with a cross shape.
