Hanky Codes in BDSM
Hanky codes or “handkerchief codes” appeared in the states in the middle of the last century, during the time of homosexual persecution. Such codes served as a signal and helped to find a suitable sexual partner.
The Essence of Hanky Codes
The idea is quite simple: you put a hanky, scarf, bandana or something suitable in your back pocket and thus communicate your preferences and role. The color of the embedded shawl and its location are of particular importance. Bandana in the left pocket means an active role, in the right – a passive one. Depending on the color, one could report a desire to have oral or anal sex, try fisting, masturbation, or other forms of stimulation.
With the legalization of homosexual relations, the system of hanky codes has lost its necessity and has gradually become a thing of the past. However, the BDSM community picked up the idea and applied it already in its realities.
Hanky Codes in BDSM
This system is popular at closed BDSM parties, the purpose of which is to meet a potential partner. The hanky is no longer necessary to put in a pocket, it can be wrapped around the wrist or ankle, even the neck, or tied to a purse.
BDSM hanky codes partially retained the values taken from the LGBT community, but many colors got their own, new meaning. In addition, shades can more accurately describe wishes, since the variety of practices is difficult to put into several basic colors. The left-right rule, i.e., Top-Bottom, was also retained.
The simplest and most common codes:
- orange – I agree to everything (for both roles);
- black – I want a hard BDSM;
- gray – bondage and binding;
- yellow – golden rain;
- white – masturbation and t*****e of the genitals.
Since there are many shades and variations of colors, confusion can arise, so discussions and questions can still not be avoided.
BDSM Hanky Code Party
Despite a fairly long history, hanky codes are not too common and most often they are really used at parties where they serve as a highlight and addition to the main topic. However, practicing thematics argue that the use of the "handkerchief" code can be convenient not only for a beginner or as a game. This significantly saves time and allows you to immediately filter out partners whose preferences you are not interested in.
At the next party, try complementing your look with a hanky of the appropriate color, perhaps this will help you find the right partner for a one-time session or become the basis for a long relationship.
